Austin Alumni Chapter of the

Society of Black Engineers
[NSBE - ALUMNI EXTENSION]
PURPOSE IS TO SUPPORT NSBE (a student run organization).
Our chapter's mission is to
- Encourage and advise youth in their pursuit of engineering/science
careers
- Increase the number of students studying engineering/sciences
at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Develop the technical and professional skills of its
members
- Promote public awareness of engineering/science opportunities
for minorities in the professions
AUSTIN ALUMNI CHAPTER'S PROGRAMS
Tutorial Program in Math and Sciences
During the school year, members are encouraged to tutor students in area NSBE Jr. Chapters. Established in 1991.
Project FreshStart
An outreach program that targets youth, grades 6 - 12, in order to expose
them to a FreshStart in developing learning skills in math,
science, and increased exposure to the history of people
of color, and self awareness. Established in 1992.
Mentoring Program:
During the school year, members are encouraged to participate as mentors with our NSBE student counterparts.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
Alumni:
Graduate of a 4 year accredited college/university with
a Natural Science, Engineering, or Computer Science degree.
Affiliate:
An individual who does not meet the requirements of an alumni,
but supports the goals of NSBE.
Honorary:
An individual selected by the membership who supports the
goals of the organization.
